説明

Clara Zetkin (1857-1933), a German political activist in the women's liberation movement, lived in Paris from 1882 to 1890, nearly 8 years from the age of 25 to 32. This paper intends to clarify: (1) how she maintained her family in Paris; (2) what she wrote in articles during this time; and (3) how her experiences and theoretical accomplish- ments in those years influenced her later political notions and activities. We extensively examined a biography of Clara Zetkin written by Gilbert Badia, which was pub- lished in Paris in 1993, and Zetkin's contributions in newspapers and magazines during those years. This paper shows that her theory on women's labor was derived from her life with children in extreme poverty in Paris, and her writing activities on women's labor since 1885 was the basis of her subsequent theoretical development and exploration on various political issues.
