抄録

This treatise has made the matter of Tian Wang clear as follows. The term of Tian Wang which is twenty-six times used in the text of the Chun qiu Sutra and is seven times used in the Zuo shi Commentary on Chun qiu and that was originally accepted from the southern States of Wu and Yue that were called the Barbarian Countries by the Center Country. Based on the discriptin of the Stories of Nations, the King of Wu who was counted among the five supreme rulers in the age of Chun qiu was called as Tian Wang at the last period of the age of Chun qiu. The reason why the Barbarian Country named her King as Tian Wang was in order to opossite and overcome the King of the Center Country (Zhou) who had been called as Tian zi. However about two hundred years after, at the middle period of the age of the Warring States, the writers of the texts of the Chun qiu Sutra and the Zuo shi Commentary standing by the lords in the Center Country, for example the lord of Wei, began to call the King of Zhou as Tian Wang. Because of they intended namely to recover the supreme status of the King of Zhou and really for the lords in the Center Country to seek after the supreme. Power in the new world given the name of Tian xia where both the Center Country and the Barbarian Countries were included.
