Description
In the current situation of science education, there are various issues : children dislike science, their scholastic achievements continue to decline, and many adults do not show interest in science. To solve these problems, a key factor is what Rachel Carson called The Sense of Wonder`: if we can activate children's sense of wonder and can develop their sensitivity to enjoy the beauty of nature, they will like science, which ; in turn, improve their scholastic achievements. The development of their sensitivity will also help them keep their interest in learning nature and science for the rest of their life. On the basis of this hypothesis tried to develop my pupils' sensitivity in the classes, and kept providing information on science to not only the children but also their parents and local inhabitants. As result of this practice, the children came to like science, and their scholastic achievements improved. These results suggest that developing children's sensitivity is a key factor for improving science education.
