Description

Bladder flap cystostomy is discussed which was pe r formed for urinary diversion in four cases of diseases of male and female urethra. Pedunculated flap 2 to 3 cm wide a nd 5 to 6 cm long is taken from the anterior wall of the bladder, the pedical being located at the dome. The flap is rolled around a No. 12 Nelaton's catheter, then the free end is fixed to the abdominal wall. The cases include three female cases of urethral tumor and one male case of urethral stricture accompanying neurogenic bladder following a radical surgery for rectal carcinoma. Excluding one case of a patient still being hospitalized, in the remaining th ree cases, the patients have no urinary incontinence and are able to hold a certain amount of urine. In one of the three, the patient could urinate at a certain interval from the new channel.
