Description
We propose a mini-magnet model as an example for a possible method of education to help to understand magnetism. We show how this mini-magnet model works in understanding the various characteristic features of magnets, which were found to be quite different from those of the electric properties of materials. We performed games using mini-magnets in a series of children's classes with their parents, which were organized with the collaboration of JEIN (NPO) and the Faculty of Science of Kyoto University. We have experienced and received various suggestions on essential ingredients not only for early-stage education program but for education programs for university students. We have also learned that, for children, personalization may be a very effective way to understand natural phenomena.
