Renal biopsy is commonly utilized to establish an accurate diagnosis and to select the most appropriate treatment for patients with renal diseases. Primary glomerular diseases are classified as follows; (1) minimal change nephrotic syndrome, (2) focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, (3) membranous glomerulonephritls, (4) IgA nephropathy, (5) membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis and (6) crescentic glomerulonephritis. Lupus nephritis and diabetic nephropathy are important among secondary glomerular diseases. Regarding renal transplant pathology, acute vascular humoral rejection, chronic transplant glomerulopathy, and recurrence of the original glomerulonephritis in the transplanted kidney are of significance. In this article, we describe the clinicopathological characteristics of renal diseases that are frequently observed and clinically important.
