- A Presumption of a Conjugative Relation of Cu++ and CN- (The Hindrance of Cu++ on expelling CN- in an Acidy Solution, and the Demasking Effect of Dioxane on Cu(CN)4--- in an Alkaline Solution)

Description
On adding mineral acid to KCN solution, HCN is produced and completely expelled by warming or babbling the solution with air. Thus, CN- is able to quantitatively absorbed in AgNO3 solution. When Cu++ exists with them, HCN is incompletely expelled, must be left in the solution as NH4+, and AgNO3 solution absorbs less HCN. Cu++ only is followed such an effect, and each Fe++, Fe+++, Ni++, Zn++ is followed scarcely or not. Oxidants, such as CrO4--, also give no effects on the solution. When [H+] of the solution 0.1~5 N, and [Cu++] 0~0.1 eq., CN- remains proportionally to [Cu++], and Cu++:CN- is about 1:1. Though CN- masks Cu++ as Cu(CN)4--- in an ammoniacal solution, a certain volumes addition of dioxane makes Cu(CN)4--- into Cu++ on demasking. Thus Cu++, as Cu(CN)4---, can be almost titrated in an ammoniacal solution by adding dioxane. The above facts suggest a particular relation or construction between Cu+, Cu++ and CN- in a solution.
