説明

This paper will describe recent developments in the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) programs for professional development. The NAEYC is the largest association for early childhood education in the United States. Through its accreditation system, it has raised the quality of early childhood education in terms of content and professional training. For instance, the NAEYC developed the Initial Licensure Programs and Advanced Programs, which may be taken at the undergraduate or graduate levels. These programs are intended to train professionals in early childhood education. In addition, the NAEYC has accredited early childhood courses in community colleges through its Associate Degree Programs. These courses are especially important because of the diverse student population in community colleges. This diversity is also reflected in the teaching content, such as the Montessori approach. In addition, NAEYC's these programs will suggest Montessori accreditation systems for professional development.
