Description

An antimicrobial activity of indole-3-carboxylic acid against Cercospora beticola Sacc. isolated from seeds of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris saccharifera Alefeld). An antimicrobial substance against Cercospora beticola Sacc. was isolated from seeds of sugar beet (Beta vulgaris saccharifera Alefeld). The structure was determined to be indole-3-carboxylic acid by spectroscopic analysis. The antimicrobial activity of the compound at 300 ppm was 65.7% and 74.3% against Cercospora beticola susceptible and resistant to thiophanate-methyl, respectively. However, the compound had not inhibited the growth of Cladosporium herbarum, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Aspergillus oryzae, Penicillium roqueforti and Escherichia coli, when the antimicrobial activity was tested by the paper disk method.
