To examine the utility of Hamielec correction method for instrumental spreading in GPC, we applied the correction method to some model chromatograms using pullulan standard samples. It was found that the mean molecular weights calculated from the corrected chromatograms became close to measured values by the other method. The corrected chromatograms obtained for mixtures of several standard samples became to show sharp peaks at positions corresponding to the peaks for the original samples. Therefore, it was concluded that the corrected chromatograms can well reflect true molecular weight distributions.
