Description

Professor Michitaka Wakatsuki was a teacher of moral education at Kiryu Koto Senshoku Gakko which was established in 1916(Taisho 5). He followed Shuyoshugi alongside the first and the second principals of this school. In the local newspaper and magazines, he published articles based on Shuyoshugi and he also expounded "the spirit of capitalism" (Max Weber) to the local people in order to solve the problems of traditionalism and to develop the local industry in Kiryu district. Consequently, what he did is an example which shows that Shuyoshugi had a probability to link with the spirit of capitalism.
