抄録

A notable characteristic of Japan is that historic sites throughout the country each have their own myths, legends, and oral histories that have been passed down from generation to generation. Together, these stories form the collective memory and fantasy of the Japanese people. The genealogy of some of the stories about these landscapes are examined and compared against my impressions of the places I actually visited.

日本の名所旧跡とよばれる各地には神話や伝説、歴史などにかかわる様々な物語が代々語り伝えられてきていることが顕著な特色といえる。それらの物語が連なって日本人の共同記憶ないし幻想を形成している。それら土地にまつわる物語の系譜の例を検討し、また実際にそうした土地を訪れた時の印象と照らし合わせる。
