抄録

真に新しい芸術は，その斬新さゆえに，一般に認められるまでに長い時間がかかるが，ひとたび認められると，多くの追随者をうみ，あたかも以前からあったかのように受け入れられていく．イノベーションも同様で，それは単なる技術の進歩ではなく，世界のあり方を革新する行為である．本稿では，著者の専門である演劇を中心に，芸術の世界における革新的な現象を取り上げ，「イノベーション」の本質を考察する．

It takes a long time before a truly new art form is generally accepted, just because it is something different. However, once it happens the new art form gains many followers and is accepted as if it had long been at the center of the scene. This phenomenon also applies to what we call “innovation.” Innovation is not just a technical progress but an act of revolutionizing the conventional world. This paper discusses the essence of “innovation,” referring to various revolutionary phenomena in the arts. The main focus is put on theater, being the author's very own field.
