The characteristics of case studies in the appreciation-ology of art are as follows. First, they are the practices based on the original theoretical considerations of the author. Second, they are practiced through using the knowledge of aesthetics and art history reconstructed from the viewpoint of appreciation-ology. Third, they are practices which attach great importance to the act of appreciation of viewers. Fourth, they are practiced efficiently and effectively through the specialization and co-operation of the planner and the performer. Fifth, the proceedings of art appreciation practices in classroom lessons are made clear and exact through "scripts" and "scenarios." The traits of case studies in the appreciation-ology of art intended for elementary school students are as follows. (1) To adopt various programs according to pupils' developmental stages: (2) to attach importance to the process of "seeing" : (3) to stimulate pupils to "think" through the process of "seeing" ; and (4) to urge pupils to "imagine" while they are in the process of "thinking."
