When,visiting,the,sick,there,is,a,custom,of,giving,a,gift,and,a,custom,of,receiving,"a return gift",in,celebration,of,the,recovery,from,the,illness.,What,kind,of,role,does,this,sense,of,obligation,have,in,the,exchange,of,gift,and,haw,does,this,custom,differ,from,area,to,area?,The,reasons,for,the,differences,will,be,investigated.,In,the,first,chapter,the,following,theory,is,investigated:,A,gift,given,in,return,for,a,gift,received,is,the,characteristic,custom,in,Japan,based,or,a,sense,of,obligation.,In,the,second,chapter,this,custom,is,analyzed,using,Teshima,and,Nara-shi,during,a,six-month,period,in,2003.,The,frequency,of,visiting,the,sick,in,Teshima,was,three,times,that,of,Nara-shi.,This,action,of,visiting,and,giving,and,returning,gifts,is,classified,in,3,categories:,a,display,your,true,feelings,a,sense,of,obligation,and,a,mix,of,both(true,feeling,and,obligation).,This,action,of,visiting,the,sick,varies,depending,on,the,amount,of,obligation,the,two,parties,feel,toward,each,other.,This,sense,of,obligation,is,influenced,by,how,much,tradition,the,local,society,maintains.,Nowadays,the,Japanese,sense,of,obligation,in,affected,by,the,changes,brought,about,by,modern,society,creating,a,new,Japanese,sense,of,obligation.,Therefore,the,from,of,sick,visitation,is,changing,as,well.
