Abstract：The view of life and death changes as time goes by. Therefore, it has been said that death education is needed. This is why modern life holds the increase of suicides, diversification of understanding death and a long-term fear to death by medical development. In Japan, however, the need of death education is not recognized in society, and death education does not readily carry it out in school. Then, this paper focuses on the role of children’s picture books about death education. Picture books of death education for infants and pupils should apply their developmental stages. In addition, each child’s view of life and death, and experience should be considered in class. This paper examined
