Does Risk Prediction Training Using KYT Sheets Improve Skills of Risk Identification and Judgment of Risk Treatment?

This study investigated the effect of Risk Prediction Training using KYT sheets in university course and exercise. In Study 1, the task of risk identification, risk evaluation, and risk treatment were conducted in the course of extra curriculum with KYT sheets, which illustrated various outdoor activities both for the experimental group and the control group. Three hours of training was also conducted only for the experimental group. The result was compared with that of experts. The results indicated that the experimental group identified more risk whereas they retain risk more than the control group at the post-test in Study 1. On the contrary, the participants of Study 2, who took a course of outdoor activity identified less risk than the control group of Study 1, but they were more conscious of risk and safe behavior at the end of the course compared to the beginning of the course. The effect of training was discussed from the view point of risk in the nature, characteristics of the tasks, and contents of training.
