Description

In 2010, histomoniasis was detected on a layer chicken farm in central Tochigi Prefecture. We instructed the affected farm to sacrifice the suspect chicken flock and to clean and disinfect the pens. The new flock did not suffer from the disease. In 2010, Coccidiosis sporadically also broke out in other farms around central Tochigi Prefecture. Therefore, we surveyed parasites on 22 farms operating floor-feeding systems in these regions. Some parasitic eggs were detected in 12 farms, but none of the chickens suffered from these parasites.
