Description
In this article, I will consider how the foundation of North Korean TV systems was formed. As a premise, I first described how TV broadcasting systems started. After the founding of the country, how was the new media of TV introduced and spread in North Korea, how was Kim Il Sung aiming to create a unique socialist system? What as its purpose? In addition, while the infrastructure of television broadcasting was formed, I examined how the contents of broadcasting were oriented.◆The efforts to introduce TV broadcasting in North Korea began during the reconstruction period after the Korean War towards the beginning of the 1960s. Since then, the nationalization of television has been promoted, and infrastructure had been developed by the late 1970s. The introduction of the latest mass media, TV broadcasting, was for something more than improving people’s cultural standards, but for the purpose of establishing the guidance system centered only on Kim Il Sung and building the system. Kim Jong Il, the successor, emphasized the "Uri-style", namely "our style", not only for the establishment of TV broadcasting infrastructure, but also for the contents of broadcasting, and exerted influence on the basic framework and direction of TV broadcasting.
