Description

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death globally. Cardiomyocytes (CMs) have poor regenerative capacity, and pharmacological therapies have limited efficacy in severe heart failure. Currently, there are several promising strategies for cardiac regeneration. The most promising approach to remuscularize failing hearts is cell transplantation therapy using newly generated CMs from exogenous sources, such as pluripotent stem cells. Alternatively, approaches to generate new CMs from endogenous cell sources
