抄録

A serological investigation, using Schuffner-Mochtar's agglutination lysis test, into the state of infection with leptospirae of some domestic animals butchered in slaughterhouses was exercised in Nagasaki city, from July to September 1959, and in Isahaya city, from April 1958 to March 1959. A positive reaction was obtained in 10 out of 137 head of cattle (7.3%), in 10 out of 194 head of swine (5.2%), in 2 out of 78 head of goat (2.6%), and in 1 out of 23 head of sheep (4.3%). Leptospiral species which gave a positive reation in the test were icterohaemorrhagiae in 8 cases (34.8%), autumnalis in 3 cases (13.0%), hebdomadis in 9 cases (39.1%), australis A in one case (4.3%), and pyrogenes in 2 cases (8.7%). There was no case of canicola to be witnessed.
