Abstract

Choko Ikuta (1882-1936) is regarded as the pioneer of the attempt to overcome the Modern because his major book "The Postmodern Declaration" ("Cho Kindaiha Senen") insists on overcome of the struggle between capitalism and communism and this issue is the same thing as Yojuro Yasuda, the leader of the Japan romantic school, asserts. Katsuichiro Kamei, who belongs to this group, thinks about the different thing from Ikuta and Yasuda's one. The programm of conquering the Modern for Kamei is none other than the negation of communism. This disagreement with the concept of overcoming the Modern is handed over to the opposition between Hideo Kobayashi, Tetsujiro Kawakami and Kamei at conservation on this even concept.
