抄録

After observing real fish and shellfish in nature, children drew vivid and creative pictures. On the other hand, licensed caregivers who lacked nature experience drew iconic and/or cartoon-fashion pictures of fish and marine creatures. These adultsʼ pictures were quite different from the real animals. Sometimes, adults fear that they do not have enough knowledge of nature and they cannot teach anything about nature to children and give iconic, stereotyped and/or in cartoon-fashion samples to children innocent-ly or meaning it for the best. However, it is warned that teachersʼ giving stereotyped iconic sample pictures to children robs those children of their creativity and originality. Such inadequate samples have serious negative effects on childrenʼs ability of observation and expression. The most important things that adults should do to nourish children through nature activities are to enjoy nature with children and to love creatures in nature with children.
