Since 2003, China’s divorce rate has been increasing. At the same time, children born after the enforcement of the nation’s “one-child policy” have entered marriageable age. This is cited as a reason for the current spike in divorce rates. This article examines the one-child policy and reveals the influence of the changing family structure on divorce behavior in China. To this end, based on the implementation of the one-child policy and resulting changes in family structure after China’s economic reform and national opening-up, two hypotheses are proposed on the impact of divorce on Chinese people. First of all, changes in family structure will affect the divorce rate, and the long-term implementation of the one-child policy will indirectly affect the rise of divorce rate. These hypotheses are validated by multiple regression analysis. The results are as follows. （1） The change of divorce rate in China is influenced by the change of family structure.（ 2） The one-child policy has indirectly affected the rise of the divorce rate.
