Polyurethane films were fabricated by coating the surface of polyurethane bearing a carboxyl moiety (PUCOOH) with polysiloxanes containing a silanol group (-SiOH), which were prepared from silica gel. The structure of the used polysiloxane significantly affected the mechanical property of the film, and the relative elastic modulus ratio E/E0 (E0: a value observed for the PUCOOH film without coating), evaluated for the film coated with the polysiloxane containing an amino group (poly-SOLPh(0.6)AP), reached to the highest value of 2.44. The coating method was applied to immobilize hydroxyapatite (HAp) on the surface of the polyurethane film. The use of poly-SOLPh(0.6)AP, as a coating reagent, effectively produced the HAp-dispersed film which showed a value of 2.00 for E/E0.
