1990年代に中・高校男子生徒を含む保育教育がスタートしたが,男子校の中・高校生に関する調査はほとんど見当たらない。そこで,本研究では,男子校の中・高校生の保育教育のカリキュラム開発のための基礎資料となる親役割の捉え方(認識)とその影響要因に関する質問紙調査を実施した。対象は,都内と東京近郊の男子校中学生193名,同じく高校生525名の計718名である。また,比較考察のため,都内と東京近郊にある共学校男子中学生126名,同じく高校生139名の計265名にも同様の質問紙調査を実施した。質問紙は,「父親役割認識」「母親役割認識」を測る尺度,影響要因としての「親になることの受容性」「幼児への興味・関心」「男女平等志向性」を測る尺度で構成した。男子校では,家族と一緒に過ごす・仕事して稼ぐ・子どもを教え導く・ロールモデルになる・一家をリードする・家事や子どもの世話をする・生活を楽しむ等,多様な役割を認識していたが,社会の一員や夫としての役割を認識していないことなど,共学校と比べると現実的認識は弱い傾向にあることが示された。さらに,これらの父親役割認識は,親になることの受容性との関連性が強いことも明らかになった。共学校に比べると,この親になることの受容性や子どもへの興味・関心が有意に低いことから,親性の発達に課題があることが示唆された。男子校中・高校生の保育教育のカリキュラム開発のための検討が必要であると考える。

Although the child development education in home economics for all boys as well as the girls has launched in the 1990s, there is no carrent research which examined whether the curriculum of child development education in boys'schools would effect as well as one in coeducational school. This study aimed to investigate boys'junior and senior high school students'awareness of father's and mother's roles and examine the relationships between their awareness of parent's roles and the readiness for parenting, comparing with those of coeducational school male students. The participants consisted of 193 boys' junior high, 525 boys' senior, 126 coeducational junior high and 139 coeducational senior high school male students. Each specific scale was developed to measure "Awareness of father's and mother's roles," "Acceptance of becoming a parent," and "Interest in Children." It was found that boys' junior and senior high school students recognized various dimensions of father's roles: as a family person, a breadwinner, a teacher, a role model, a leader, and a house worker. The results also showed they did not perceive father's roles as a citizen and a husband and they were found not to have fully developed comprehensive and realistic awareness of father's roles. Further, the analyses revealed that boys' school students' readiness for parenting predicted their awareness of father's roles significantly. On the other hand, it was shown that boys' senior high school students'readiness for parenting was at a lower level of development in acceptance of becoming a parent and interest in children than those of coeducational senior high school male students. This present study suggested that more researches will be needed to develop appropriate curriculum of child development education for boys' junior and senior school students.
