[Abstract] In this article, I would like to clarify that Alexandre Kojève and Gaston Fessard did not only bear arms, but also tried to accurately grasp the situation during that Vichy period in France from their philosophical standpoints, through their written activities, and that they bridged theory and reality, then eventually philosophy and politics. By examining Kojève and Fessard's evaluations of Philippe Pétain from the perspective of the theories of authority including the relationship between Master and Slave, it will become possible to consider that we will still be able to obtain tools of thought which can be applied to real politics even today.
