Relation between number of stores and the population in isolated islands has been investigated and summarized by power law. Power law analysis has been successfully applied to the number of species and the area of island in recent bio-geography and it was also applied to the depth of thermocline of lakes in different surface area. Basic data of this study were obtained from 29 cities, towns or villages for 45 islands or regions, although telephone books were also used for some islands. The result is shown in Fig. 1 where the date are grouped into three, namely, Group A for the average, Group B for high values and Group C for low values. Power law coefficients are about 0.8 for Groups A and B, and 0.56 for Group C. Group B includes the islands where tourism facilities are relatively abundant, whereas Group C includes extremely inconvenient islands. Isolated islands in Okinawa Prefecture where cooperative stores have strong influence are also included in Group C. Fig. 2 shows the relation between the population and number of electric goods stores obtained from telephone book. It may be said that one electric goods store is supported by 1,000 population as an average. Assuming that number of stores obeys to 0.8th power law, the economic scale of each store would increase by 0.2th power law as an average. It may be said that the similarity relation presented here would give the basic relationship between the number of consumers and stores.
