Evaluation by Readers for Technical Description Rewriting Support System Based on Paraphrasing Technical Terms

本研究では，博物館等に展示される専門的な内容を含む解説文を，子どもなど背景知識の違う受け手に分かりやすくリライトする際に，言い換え箇所と言い換え候補表現を提示することで，書き手を支援するシステムを提案している．本稿では，読み手による評価実験について報告する．10名の大学生が，(1)一般向け，(2)サイエンスライターにが人手でリライトした子ども向け，(3)提案手法の支援を受けてリライトした子ども向け，の3通りの解説文の読み比べ，もっとも分かりやすい解説文を選択した．結果は，(1)6%，(2)42%，(3)48%となり，提案手法の支援を受けてリライトした解説文が，サイエンスライターが内容の専門家と協議を重ねてリライトした解説文に匹敵する評価を得た．提案する支援が有効である，という結論に至った．

We developed a rewriting support system that helps writers rewrite technical descriptions of museum objects by showing the terms to be paraphrased and gives a list of example paraphrases. This paper describes the evaluation by readers. In the evaluation, 10 students compared the 3 versions of descriptions((1) for adults, (2) for children rewritten by science writer, (3) for children rewritten with the proposed support system) about 5 objects, and selected the most understandable one for each object. They also highlighted complicated expression in the descriptions. The result is (1) 6%, (2) 42%, (3) 48%. Thus, the description rewritten with the rewriting support system as being as understandable as descriptions rewritten in collaboration with content experts and science writers.
