In this study, the electron temperature of argon plasma behind shock wave is determined based on continuum emission spectra observed from electron-neutral atom (e-a) bremsstrahlung. Continuum emission spectra are observed by spectroscopic measurements using a shock tube. Theoretical spectra of e-a bremsstrahlung are calculated with changing electron temperature as a parameter, and fitted to the measured continuum spectra. The electron temperatures obtained with this method show a reasonable agreement with the calculated ones obtained by CFD simulation. However, a disagreement is seen in the region near the shock front, and therefore, the effect of another radiation processes should be considered into theoretical spectra. The result shows that the validity of this electron temperature diagnostics for argon plasmas behind shock waves.
