Abstract
In a previous work, the author introduced non-linear q-difference systems which include q-Garnier systems. These systems were given as a compatibility condition of linear q-difference equations whose coefficients were products of N × N matrices. In this paper, we consider a special case with N = 3 and derive a 3×3 matrix Lax form of the q-Painlevé equation of type $E^{(1)}_6$ and two kinds of characterizations of a 3rd-order scalar equation related to it. They seems to be new.
