Abstract

The paper deals regional councils of JTUC-Rengo. The regional councils are two hundred and eighty-one in number and are organized in cities and towns. A fulltime union officer and a clerk are arranged in each of two-hundred and sixty councils. Two hundred and seven councils, three quarters of them, propose their original policy demands to local governments, in order to promote welfare of citizens living and working in the regions. Regional labor movement led by the councils has the potential to improve societies, even if little by little.
