Abstract

〔Aims〕To explore future childcare support activities for midwives in universities that contribute to the community in a participatory manner after the end of COVID-19 pandemic. 〔Methods〕The subjects were 7 mothers who participated in the childcare support program. Semi-structured online interviews were conducted, and qualitative inductive analysis was performed based on the data obtained. 〔Results〕Seven categories were extracted: “projects that couples can participate in together,” “academic lectures from university experts,” “lectures that can be experienced face-to-face,” “connections with experts,” “interaction with other parents and children,” “consideration for concentrating on lectures,” and “easy-to-participate time, frequency, and method with children.” 〔Conclusions〕Future childcare support plans should include opportunities for couples to learn child-rearing together and opportunities to interact with other families, reliable knowledge and time for child-rearing technique exercises through direct communication, opportunities for interaction and dialogue with other families raising children, plans for interaction with experts, consideration for easy participation in lectures, and especially consideration for infants on the day of the lecture.
