Abstract

International Nursing Study had been suspended for two years due to the impact of COVID-19 from March 2020. But in 2022, it was conducted in a hybrid method. At first, students experienced webinar exchange programs with students of Nursing Department, Our Lady of Fatima University, Philippines (here after OLFU) for two days. After that, students visited Nursing Department, Burapha University, Thailand (here after BUU) and participated face-to-face programs for eight days. They have attained the benefits of the hybrid method. Through webinar and face-to -face programs with pre-learning on campus, in Thailand where we visited, through interaction with nursing students, nursing professionals and local people, students could learn about culture, health care and nursing, socio-economic conditions, differences from Japan and about national character. After experienced hybrid method, webinar was found more restrictions such as time constraints and limited communication due to lack of language skills, even though they recognized the merits of speedy implementation and economical effect. In the face-to-face exchanges, they acquired knowledge while feeling the situation with their five senses in a variety way unique to students. Through face-to-face programs in Thailand, the students not only objectively reconsidered the situation of health care, nursing and society in Japan, but also became an opportunity to recognize diverse values.
