Abstract

Konosu City is one of the central cities in the central region of the prefecture, which has developed since the Edo period around the Nakasendo Konosujuku. However, the revitalization of the old Nakasendo shopping street has become an urgent issue due to the change in the commercial center and the increase in the number of vacant stores as a result of the transition of traffic. Therefore, industry, government, academia, and Konosu citizens collaborated to launch the "Old Nakasendo Shopping Street Revitalization Project" in April 2022 with the aim of revitalizing the old Nakasendo shopping street. In the first year, we conducted a survey of the actual conditions of the old Nakasendo shopping street and the surrounding area and held a pilot event, "Sorahana Marche," with the aim of verifying the effectiveness of the event and clarifying future issues by understanding and analyzing the attitudes of visitors and stall holders.
