For the accuracy of estimating seismic response displacement in Limit Response Displacement Design (equivalent linearization method analysis), it is important to accurately determine the relationship between lateral resistance force and the lateral displacement of buildings. Lateral resistance force can be estimated with a high degree of accuracy, as there is a track record of calculating allowable stress and ultimate lateral strength. On the other hand, various methods for estimating lateral displacement have been proposed for RC structural members, but verification of their accuracy is not enough. In addition, methods for estimating yield displacement of buildings consisting of many structural members, which is the key to equivalent linearization analysis, are not established with engineering meaning. The authors have been working on proposing the yield point of members and the yield point of the structure. As part of these efforts, in October 2020, a shaking table experiment was conducted on a 5-story RC building by the full-scale three-dimensional seismic destruction experiment facility (E-Defense) owned by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention. This paper describes the verification of a method for estimating the yield displacement of a building consisting of many members, and its application to the seismic design of RC buildings.
