Abstract

type:論文

The Iiji Gomoza Kabuki Preservation Society reflects a deep commitment to preserving regional Kabuki, a traditional Japanese theater form. The society's efforts underscore the importance of local Kabuki, particularly in a region known for its historical significance in the art form alongside Odawara Kabuki and Banshu Kabuki. These areas were historically favored to maintain social harmony during the Edo period, which in turn helped Kabuki flourish. Gifu Prefecture is home to approximately 30 Kabuki preservation societies, with a significant concentration in the Eastern Mino area. The society also engages children in Kabuki, encouraging their participation through performances and practices, thereby fostering a new generation of performers. Despite challenges such as financial constraints and the impact of COVID-19, the society continues to work towards preserving this cultural heritage.
