Description
This study aims to examine the challenges encountered by young school nurses in multidisciplinary collaboration and determine the required skills from the perspectives of school counselors and school social workers. It assesses the curricula at the training stage. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with five school counselors and five school social workers in January and February 2023. The interviews included questions about young school nurses’ present state of multidisciplinary collaboration in schools, problems and difficulties arising in such collaboration, and the role of school nurses in the school system. In the qualitative research analysis, the challenges encountered by young school nurses in multidisciplinary collaboration consisted of 22 subcategories and 11 categories. The categories were “Insufficient ability of professional demonstration resulted from single disposition,” “Insufficient ability to work on other teachers to develop multidisciplinary collaboration,” “Insufficient ability to cope with principal’s thoughts,” and “Insufficient ability of managing mental health.”
