Description

Ambient levels of benzene, a known human carcinogen, NOx, CO and criteria pollutants are dominated by emissions from automobiles. Ambient levels of benzene, NOx, CO were monitored continuously in order to predict the nationwide benzene exposure levels by using the relationship between benzene and NOx or between benzene and CO. NOx and CO were found to be reliable predictors of benzene levels. The data of PM₂.₅, aromatic compounds and weather conditions, those were also monitored continuously, were reported. The relationship between benzene and PM₂₅ or between benzene and aromatic compounds were reported. The benzene level are expected to decrease as a result of the regulation of benzene content of gasoline. The long-term trend of benzene level was examined with monitoring data.
