ボディ・イメージとは、知覚的プールと経験的プールから形成される自分自身の身体についての概念である。知覚的プールは、われわれの現在および過去のすべての感覚的体験から構成され、経験的プールはわれわれのすべての経験や情動および記憶から構成される(Gorman,1969)。 脳のボディ・イメージは、脳がまさにイメージを形成する器官である点と、脳は直接知覚できないという点で、特にユニークな性質を持っている。 われわれは、脳の自由描画と、重量推定という2つの課題によって、大学生の脳のボディ・イメージの測定を試みた。大学新入生78名の脳の描画と重量に関する回答を分析したしたところ、描画に関しては解剖学的に正しいと評価できるものは1例もなく、際だった多様性が認められた。脳の重量の推定でも、極端に軽いか、重いという判断をした者が全体の1|3以上もいるなど、大学新入生の脳のボディ・イメージはかなり曖昧なものであることがわかった。|The body image is the concept of one's body, which has been formed by the interaction of the perceptual pool with the experiential pool. The perceptual pool consistes of all our present and past sensory experiences, and the experiential pool consists of all our experiences, affects and memories (Goman,1969). The body image of human brain is different from the others in that brain is imperceptive of itself. In this preliminary study, we attempted to survey the body image of human brain of the college students,using free drawing technique and a question. `What is the weight of hte human brain? The subject were all new studens of our department in the 1999 and 2000. Seventy-eight brain drawing were analyzed. Among the different results, variations in the shape of the brain drawing were the most remarkable feature. There was no student, who drew a reasonable resemble to the gross anatomical feautures of the brain. In the question about the weight of the brain, about two-thirds of students estimated it too light, or too heavy.
