Description
From the experimental simulation and study of blowing snow and blowing dust with strong electric field, it was confirmed that the electric field are produced by the space charge of ions and micro particles generated by the mutual collision of snow or dust in a strong wind. To elucidate the ion production mechanism, several kinds of semiconductors of known type (P or N-type) were used for experiment and these experimental results suggest that the ion production should be produced by conductive carriers released from materials. This interesting physical effect is called "lmpact Ion Production Effect" (IIPE) in this paper. This paper shows that the many static electrification phenomena in natural precipitation can be expected by IIPE confirmed by the observation in natural snowfall at the Niseko Observatory of Muroran Institute of Technology.
