Description

The present study was carried out to examine the relationship among the structure of ego, self-esteem and the experience of contingency. Undergraduate students(49 males and 72 females)were asked to rate items from Egogram scales developed by Sugita(1990), SE(Self-esteem)scale by Yamamoto et al.(1982)and EC (Experience of contingency)and EN(Experience of noncontingency) scales by Maki et al(2003). Higher positive correlation were observed between EC score and Nurturing Parent score in Egogram, between EC score and Free Child score in Egogram and between EN and Adapted Child in Egorgam, whereas negative correlation was observed between EC score and Adapted Child in Egorgam. Positive correlation was also observed between SE score and FC. These results were interpreted as showing that EC was one of the determinants for NP and FC tendencies, and that NC was one of those for AC tendency. Gender differences in correlations between SE and some scores were discussed in terms of educational treatment.
