Abstract

Japanese honorific expressions are one of the most difficult areas for foreign students. In most classrooms only honorific vocabulary and some dialogs are learned. Depending on their native languages, foreign students show certain tendencies when they make mistakes. In this paper our observations of their typical deficiencies and suggestions to help them are presented.
