Description

The thermal conductivity of heterogeneous two-component mixtures consisting of a continuous and a discontinuous phase was studied. Thermal conductivities were examined by the measure for mixtures of the particles (Steel, Glass, Sand, Polyester and Lead spherical particles or Aluminium and Brass cylindrical particles) and Epoxy resin. The results obtained are as follows : 1) In two-component mixtures where Steel spherical particles were dispersed into Epoxy resin, Thermal conductivity agreed well with Maxwell's equation and Rayleigh's equation when volume fraction of particles was dispersed low. 2) The results of experiments agreed well with Bruggeman's equation on determination of thermal conductivity when volume fraction was high and the particles were closely packed.
