Recently, in the field of Clinical Psychology, it is often reported that the narcissism has been changing its nature from the state of self-love to the state of loving oneself who is loved by others . This statistical study aims to re-confirm such a change and analyze a relationship between the narcissistic personality and the self-esteem. As a measurement of narcissistic personality, NPI -35, which was developed by Konishi et al., is used. For the measurement of self-esteem, a combined scale based on Self-Esteem Inventory (SEI) by Rosenberg and SE-I by Cheek and Buss is used. These two scales were administered to 133 undergraduates. The results show that the praise of body factor is not statistically significant, whereas very good esteem has strong positive correlation with the narcissism, which is consistent with the recent findings in the clinical psychology. It also suggests that the good enough self-esteem alone does not satisfy one s narcissism.
