説明

"Taiheiki" was familiar from the Mid-Muromachi Period through to the beginning of Pre-Modern Times (the Azuchi-Momoyama Period) in various ways, in part because it offered such rich material for dramatic literature. Among the Tosa Joruri works there are three stories based on Taiheiki: 1) "Kusunoki Minatogawa Gassen," 2) "Otonomiya Kumano-ochi," and 3) "Yoshino Shui." The Taiheiki-mono in Tosa Joruri are built around such heroes as Kusunoki Masashige and his son Masatsura, and Otonomiya, each of whom died a very tragic death, accompanied by their very brave and faithful followers (Chikudomaru, Shiki-no-Uemon, Murakami Yoshiteru and Wada-no-Shimbochi). The world of Taiheiki is remarkably magnified in Tosa Joruri, where supporting, contrasting scenes are added, as are fusigoto, song passages accompanied by samisen music. However, the Taiheiki-mono in Tosa Joruri do not deviate significantly from the original Taiheiki. They can be considered to constitute the last stage of dramatizing Taiheiki.
