Abstract

The aim of this paper is to make clear the effect of road improvement in Fukui city by using population and land-use data. As the main result of this study, the chain effect diagram is shown. In this diagram, in principle the relation of cause and effect is based on the existing theory. To explain the chain effect diagram, some new methods to me出urethe effect of road improvement in terms of built-up-process and accessibility are proposed. And with a view to making up the diagram, questionnaire for the residents on the roadside and the meeting with the managers of roadside business are carried out.
