  • Study on the Structure Among Urban Characteristics, Industrial Employment Structure and City Population in the Local Small-Sized City

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to clarify the regional characteristics, the industrial employment structure and the population change of the local small-sized city, and their mutual relation. The main conclusions are summarized as follows. (1)The city within the urban region and the city specializing at the assembly type manufacturing industry or the third industry have been increasing during 1965-95; (2)The industrial employment structure of the small-sized core city relatively specializes at the third industry, and cities within the urban region specialize at the manufacturing industry; (3)The tendency of the population growth in the isolation city is weakest, but it is strongest in cities within the urban region; (4)Dynamically, the tendency of the population growth is strongest in the cities which convert to the small-sized core city in the regional characteristics or convert to the city specailizing at the assembly type manufacturing industry.
