本研究ノートは、日本企業の知的財産情報の開示状況（2004年開示から2007年開示）について、特にその開示媒体および知的財産報告書の分量と構成に焦点をあてて整理・分析している。知的財産情報の開示は、2004年1 月に経済産業省から公表された「知的財産情報開示指針」において推奨されている。しかし現在、実際にそのような開示を行なっている企業はそれほど多いとはいえない状況にある。本研究において、少ないながらも知的財産情報の開示を行なっている企業の情報を比較してみると、開示媒体や開示項目にバラツキがみられ、それらの情報の比較可能性は高いとはいえない状況にあることが判明した。

This research note investigates how Japanese firms disclose Intellectual Property in the form of Intellectual Property Report. Recently, some firms prepare Intellectual Property Report based on the "The Guideline on Disclosure for Intellectual Property" that has been specified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. So far, the number of firms that disclose Intellectual Property Report is limited. This is because that such report is not mandatory by the accounting system. Furthermore, since the Intellectual Property Report is voluntarily disclosed by each firm, there exists no unified format for such the disclosure of Intellectual Property Report. This research note also shows that how the format of the disclosed Intellectual Property Report is different from one firm to another.
