Recent studies using high school students showed that the motivation of homework predict the effort of homework. While the studies suggested that the students’ motivation and effort of homework are domain-specific, the studies examined exclusively the subjects in high school. Thus, it is unclear whether the motivation and effort of homework in high school predicts those of tasks in university. In the present study, eighty nine university students recollected and rated their motivation and effort of homework in high school. Furthermore, the participants rated their motivation and effort of tasks in university. The results showed that the students’ effort and motivation of the tasks in university can be predicted with the effort and motivation of homework in high school. The present study suggests that previous motivation and effort of homework in high school possibly relate with the students’ motivation and effort of tasks in university. (145 words)
